Portlandia

A while back some people from the show Portlandia came into the studio wondering if they could use the large images of Kevin’s bridal covers. They were shooting an episode in a bridal boutique and needed them for the set. Well the episode finally aired! Below is a screen capture of the images and CLICK HERE to watch the clip of the video with Kevin’s images in the background. Pretty awesome!

This site seems to think that it is coming in March. I’m not sure, but that would be a nice spring edition.

The slow months, aren’t so slow anymore

January and February can be pretty slow months for photographers, and as much as we’d like to lay in bed all day and twiddle our thumbs, don’t! There is still plenty to be done at your studio.

1. Get an early start on seniors for the next year. (We have already started searching for our senior spokesmodels)

2. Who is it best to market to? Your previous clients! Send out Thank You cards with discounted sitting fees for all the clients who ordered packages or prints from you the year before.

3. Weddings, weddings, weddings! Now granted you should have already started to market if you are wanting to shoot weddings, but never stop! People are ALWAYS getting engaged and therefor always looking for a photographer! Keep it up! Plus when you book a wedding that makes your January and February look a WHOLE lot better. :)

4. Clean! Now that you finally have time to breathe, take a look around your studio. Does it look a little cluttered? Is there a print hanging from HOW long ago? Just do a little cleaning and sweep of your studio. We just painted the studio, one of the walls is orange!

5. Restock and revamp for the year. Your packaging is running low and your energy. Order some new boxes, ribbon, or bags to revamp your products when the client comes to pick everything up. Plus it makes it more exciting for you! It’s like buying new gym clothes therefore you will go to the gym….. kind of.

6. Have fun! Always be thinking of new ways to get new clients and people into your studio. If you’re having a good time other people will see that and want to join in.

Hope this helps!
